A Fresh Start for DC Streetcar
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) are preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Union Station to Georgetown Streetcar Transportation Improvements Environmental Assessment. The EA will be prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and the Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is a cooperating agency for the EA. The study area includes a 3.3 mile long corridor from 3rd Street NE to 33rd Street NW. The evaluation of transportation improvements for all modes – streetcar, vehicular, transit, bicycle, and pedestrian – are evaluated to determine the best multi-modal enhancements on the corridor.
